Get close with 7x optical zoom in a compact body. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W370 features 14.1 megapixel resolution (on a 1/2.3-in. Super HAD CCD sensor), 7x optical zoom (34-238mm equiv.), optical Image Stabilization, and a large 3.0-in. (230k-dot) LCD.
The long zoom brings distant objects close for capturing outdoor, sports, and travel photos. The built-in Lens-shift Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization helps reduce blur at the long focal lengths.
iSCN shooting mode analyzes the current scene, compares it against eight scenes and automatically optimizes camera settings for the appropriate scene. It will even take two shots with different settings in difficult lighting situations. Easy Mode is ideal for a beginner photographer: it simplifies menu options, increases text size, and provides the minimum necessary functions only. Face Detection, Smile Shutter Technology and Anti-Blink technology capture faces and smiles naturally. Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) helps preserve detail in the shadows and highlights.
For more challenging shooting situations, match the scene yourself to the appropriate Scene Mode. For example, Twilight Portrait scene mode sets the camera so you can take a night picture where the main subject (lit by flash) and the background (long exposure) are both recorded. High ISO uses a fast shutter speed to reduce camera shake and subject motion blur.
No need to rush back into a group picture before the self-timer finishes its count down. Self-Portrait Timer uses Face Detection technology to recognize when your face enters the frame, gives you 2 seconds to compose yourself, then snaps the group picture.
For those who desire a bit more control, switch to Program AE (P) mode and dial in an exposure compensation to compensate for scenes that are too bright or too dark. Custom White Balance allows you to obtain the correct colors under artificial lighting situations.
Sweep Panorama™ captures sweeping panoramic views in one easy “press and sweep” motion. The camera can take panoramic shots of up to 243 degrees.
The DSC-W370 records movies at 1280 x 720 30fps with monaural sound. It accepts both Memory Stick™ (Pro Duo™) and SD/SDHC memory cards.
Included is the Sony Picture Motion Browser software that allows you to transfer, sort and view video and still images on your compatible PC. In addition, multiple output options let you burn your memories to DVD (sold separately), as well as take advantage of one click upload to a number of popular video and photo sharing sites.
The Sony W370 is a point-and-shoot digital camera that is ideal for those who desire an easy-to-use long zoom camera in a compact body. Available in Green, Red and Silver, priced at about US $230.
