The Sony SLT-A35 solves the slow Live View AF issue that plagues all DSLRs by using a translucent mirror and a lightning-fast Phase-Detection AF sensor.
In fact the AF is so fast that it is full-time even during movie recording. Continuous shooting is at 5.5fps at full resolution or 7fps at 1.4x crop factor.
The Sony SLT-A35 features 16.2MP resolution on an Exmor™ APS HD CMOS sensor (23.4 X 15.6mm), a 3.0-in. high resolution (921k-dot) LCD, Sensor-shift Image Stabilization, a high resolution (1440k-dot) Electronic Viewfinder with 100% field coverage, PASM, Scene Modes, Sweep Panorama (2D/3D), Picture Effects, and Full HD 1920×1080/60i video.
The Sony SLT-A35 caters to the point-and-shoot crowd desiring to upgrade to a DSLR. Its AUTO+ mode, Scene modes and on-screen Help Guide ease first-time DSLR users into using a DSLR. More advanced users will appreciate the availability of PASM modes for full exposure flexibility.
Other features include Dust Reduction, Sensor-shift image stabilization and the availability of an optional remote controller. There are currently more than 30 A-mount lenses available.
The Sony SLT-A35 uses Memory Stick PRO Duo™/Pro-HG Duo™ media; SD, SDHC and SDXC memory card.
The Sony SLT-A35 is smaller and lighter than traditional mirrored DSLRs. Its fast Live View AF makes it easy for first-time DSLR buyers to upgrade from their compact digital cameras (point-and-shoot or prosumer models).
