“75 Years in Photos!” Photo Contest: Theme is Gatineau Park in Quebec, Canada Before Aug.2, 2013 at Midnight (EDT)

The National Capital Commission (NCC) of Canada invites you to come and discover Gatineau Park, a “National Gem!”

This video presents “Gatineau Park: Celebration 75 years!”

Gatineau Park is celebrating its 75th year!

Take this opportunity to discover or rediscover the Park! Whether you’re passionate about nature, history or heritage, you have many activities to choose from. Enjoy a breath of fresh air in this conservation park, a natural beauty minutes from the heart of downtown Ottawa-Gatineau.

Join the celebration via the following ways.

  • Gatineau Park is an outdoor paradise that offers a great variety of FREE and low-cost outdoor activities.

    • Explore the 250 kilometres of trails for hiking, the five public beaches, the campgrounds and more!
    • NCC encourages recreation that respects the natural environment. Please help protect the Park and leave no trace.
  • “75 Years in Photos!” Photo Contest

    • This contest is open to Canadian citizens, 18 years of age and over, who reside in Canada.
      • It is open to members of the public who are interested in photography, students of photography schools, and non- and semi-professional photographers (i.e. those who earn less than 50 percent of their total income from photography).
      • The theme of your photo must be Gatineau Park.
      • Photos are to be submitted before August 2, 2013 at midnight (EDT).
    • Send them your best photo of the Park, and you could win prizes.
      • An NCC jury will choose 10 winning photos from those submitted.
      • The 10 winners will receive the following prizes.

        1. A gift basket valued at over $200, which will include local gourmet products and an overnight stay in a yurt or four-season tent in Gatineau Park.
        2. The selected photos will be exhibited at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre in Chelsea, where they will have excellent visibility and be seen by numerous visitors to the Park.
        3. The 10 winning photos will be posted on the NCC’s Flickr page from August 16 to 30, 2013.
          • Participants can invite their friends and family to mark their photo as a “favourite” on Flickr.
        4. The photo that has the most “favourites” will be designated as the “People’s Choice” winner.

          • The “People’s Choice” winning photographer will also receive the following prizes for a total value of $500, compliments of Centre Japonais de la Photo:
            • a Fujifilm HS30EXR digital camera with case,
            • 8 GB memory card, as well as
            • printing for 100 4×6 photos.
