Take A Number

Fri October 28, 2011

The world’s population reaches 7 billion in the next few weeks. What’s your number? This BBC site lets you enter your birth date and then tells you what your number was when you were born, as in: you were the 3 billionth person alive. Of course, it’s not very accurate since it does not take your time of birth into account nor does it have a database of all births to consult, but it’s nevertheless quite fun.

Visit 7 billion people and you: What’s your number?

Nokia Demos Flexible Phone Prototype

Thu October 27, 2011

From CNETTV

We’ve seen this flexible user interface prototype before but never in a product prototype. It’s similar to (and probably based on) the PaperPhone, invented by Roel Vertegaal, Director of Queen’s University Human Media Lab in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and which uses bend gestures to operate it.

Question is, do you really want to twist and bend your phone instead of touching the screen? I can’t imagine carrying such a phone in your pocket or purse because there is no saying who it will dial as it gets inadvertently bent. And how many times can you bend it before it breaks? Also, it looks very tiring.
