DSLR vs P&S vs Camcorder vs Smart-phones

Wed June 29, 2011

In its latest real world camera test, Consumer Reports tested a DSLR, a point-and-shoot, a camcorder, and two smart-phone cameras at a family birthday party to see which performed best in low ambient light and when shooting video of the candles being blown out.

“The Nikon D3100 SLR produced the best stills, with the least graininess and most vibrant colors. The videos showed plenty of detail, and audio was OK. One flash shot produced a wonderful image. I loved the large, clearly labeled buttons on the body, and I could zoom quickly. It’s the one device that let me capture wide-angle shots.”

Wed June 29, 2011

From noahfineart

Technically, Mickey Mouse should be already in the public domain since 2003 but Disney got an extension. It’s all a complicated affair better left for lawyers to sort out.

But as part of this year’s D23 Expo, Noah was chosen by Disney Consumer Products to create the iconic graphic celebrating this year’s themes.

This amazing photo is not what you may think of at first, i.e. lightning striking an object. Instead, this is lightning created by the University of Florida Lightning Research Group Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. [I have never understood why electrical engineering is coupled with computer studies.] I guess this shows that we have a pretty good understanding of what lightning is?

And probably bolsters North Korea’s claim that their team lost to the USA in the Women’s World Cup run because lightning struck them! Tee, hi, hi…
