Nikon D7000
Nikon has announced the D7000 DSLR to replace the popular D90. It features a new 16.2MP CMOS sensor that boasts exceptional low-light capability, a new 39-point AF system which includes nine centre cross-type sensors to provide fast AF and AF tracking, a 2,016 pixel RGB 3D Matrix Metering System, and full 1080p HD movie capability with full-time auto focus (AF). The EXPEED 2™ image-processing system allows a 50-millisecond shutter response, blazing AF speed and rapid 6fps burst speed for up to 100 images. The native ISO range is from 100-6400 and can be expanded to a Hi-2 setting of ISO 25,600 equivalent.
The exposure can be adjusted on the fly while recording a movie, the start and end of recorded movies can be trimmed in-camera, and stereo sound can be recorded using an optional wireless or hot shoe mounted microphone.
Like the D3100, there is now a dedicated Live View switch and Movie button. A built-in HDMI output allows users to connect the D7000 to a HDTV; because the output is CEC (Consumer Electronic Control) compliant, playback can be controlled with most HDTV remote controls.
The Nikon D7000 is dust and moisture sealed and the body features magnesium-alloy top and rear covers. The D7000 is available mid-October 2010 at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of CAD $1,279.95 / US $1,199 for body only and CAD $1,599.95 / US $1,499 for a kit that includes the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens.
