SAMSUNG has announced two new SL Series digital cameras at the 2010 International CES.

The Samsung SL600 features 12.2M resolution, 5x wide-angle optical zoom (27-155mm equiv.), 2.7-in. LCD screen (230k-dot), and Movie 640×480 @ 30fps.

The Samsung SL50 features 10.2M resolution, 5x wide-angle optical zoom (27-155mm equiv.), 2.5-in. LCD screen (230k-dot), and Movie 640×480 @ 30fps.

Both cameras feature Smart Auto, Perfect Portrait System (Face Detection, Smile Shot, Blink Detection, Red-eye Fix, Beauty Shot).

Canon SELPHY ES40 Compact Photo Printer

CANON CANADA has announced the SELPHY ES40 Compact Photo Printer, the first printer with a voice guidance system that provides the user with step-by-step voice instructions for printing and adding graphics to images without having to rely on a written manual.

The ES40 features a large 8.9-cm (3.5-in) LCD screen and Easy Scroll Wheel for navigating through menus and images. A Creative Print function allows personalization of photos with new frames and clip art.

Just Posted! Nikon D300s Review

This should have been our last review of 2009 and we got it almost all wrapped up ready for publishing… then things come up, relatives visit, there’re dinners to attend, and end of year maintenance to perform on the web server… and so we bring you this Nikon D300s Review a couple of days late.

The Nikon D300s improves on the D300 with slightly better Live View, adds HD Movie, a slightly faster Continuous Shooting at 7fps — and continues to be one of the best DSLR for serious photographers on a budget. It is not for those upgrading from a P&S compact digicam but advanced DSLR photographers will find plenty to like.

LCD screen, Smart Capture, Panorama Stitch, Face Detection, Face Recognition, and HD Video (720p @ 30fps). The Kodak EasyShare M575 features 14M resolution, 5x wide-angle optical zoom (28-140mm equiv.), 3.0-in. LCD screen, Smart Capture, Panorama Stitch, Face Detection, Face Recognition, and HD Video (720p @ 30fps). The Kodak EasyShare M550 features 12M resolution, 5x wide-angle optical zoom (28-140mm equiv.), 2.7-in. LCD screen, Smart Capture, Panorama Stitch, Face Detection, Face Recognition, and Video (640 x 480 @ 30fps). The Kodak EasyShare M530 features 12M resolution, 3x optical zoom (36-108mm equiv.), 2.7-in. Social media is the buzzword, with easy one-button tagging of pictures to be later sent to Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, e-mail and Kodak’s own Gallery. Note that there is no Wi-Fi built into the cameras; the photos are simply tagged or marked for the appropriate social site. When you do connect camera to computer, the pictures are then automatically uploaded to the tagged site or sent to the specified email address (assuming you have already set the appropriate login settings in the EasyShare software). This potentially saves you one extra step of doing the transfer or emailing yourself. One interesting feature is that you can also tag a picture to be uploaded to the new Kodak PULSE digital frame, so family and friends can quickly see the new pictures you took.

These are point-and-shoot models, with lots of color choices, priced from US $130 to $200 MSRP beginning in April 2010.
