Panasonic GF1 Field Test @ Craigmod

Thu December 17, 2009

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1

The [Panasonic] GF1 is a near perfect travel camera. For 16 days I lived with it strapped to me as I climbed through the valleys of central Nepal up to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,200 meters.

Craigmod has published his field test of the Panasonic GF1 [Specs], a 12.1MP Micro Four-Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera available with either the LUMIX G 20mm/F1.7 ASPH “pancake” kit lens or the LUMIX G VARIO 14-45mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. kit lens. The GF1 features 1280 x 720 High Definition video in AVCHD Lite, My Color mode with seven preset effects, Live View with fast contrast AF, Intelligent Auto mode, Scene modes, Face Detection, Face Recognition, AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO, Intelligent Exposure, Intelligent Scene Selector, built-in flash, 3.0-in. Intelligent LCD (460,000 dots), Dust Reduction system, and an optional Live View Finder attachable via the hot shoe. The GF1 also accepts Four Thirds System interchangeable lenses via an optional mount adaptor DMW-MA1 and Leica M / R lenses using Panasonic’s DMW-MA2M / DMW-MA3R.

Mc Media Dishes Out Fast Food Content

Thu December 17, 2009

It looks like our appetite for fast food does not stop with… food. It also applies to online content. Witness the incredible rise in web sites that dishes out “10 Amazing this” and “20 Awesome that” and a myriad of “How to”s videos that barely scratch the surface.

We like bite-sized morcels, something quick to munch during a lunch break or watched surreptitiously during work hours [nothing can be done surreptitiously these days, folks, it's all recorded, tabulated and reviewed by HR], barely digested, a quick fix, a quick high, and we forward it to our friends, retweet, and flood the Web with drivel.

And, they are doing quite well, too, thank you very much! In fact, “it’s profitable as hell.”

Demand Media, started by Rosenblatt (of iMall, excite.com, Dr. Koop Men’s Prostate Formula pills, and Intermix Media “fame”), “excels” at producing videos and articles [about 4,000 videos and articles every day] that people are demanding — even if they do not know it. It analyzes what people are searching in Google, then uses an algorithm to decide what videos to produce. An army of freelancers jump to produce them at $20 a piece and the videos are quickly posted on eHow and YouTube.

How To Get Your Pictures Displayed In Hotels

Thu December 17, 2009

There’s an interesting article over at Black Star Rising about one of the ways you can get your pictures displayed in Hotel Lobbies and rooms — and even get paid for them. Sounds like an attractive proposition, right? Until you hear about the commissions you’ll be receiving, akin to what microstocks pay. But if you are already into microstock and not making much, here is a different venue to consider that may just work for you. Tell us what you think or if there are different ways to have your pictures displayed in Hotels!
