Seiko Epson has announced volume production of its new color panel for electronic viewfinders (EVFs). The new panels offer SVGA resolution and are targeted at camera manufacturers for use as electronic viewfinders in mid- to high-end digital SLR cameras.

Think what this means: Optical viewfinders replaced by very high resolution EVFs => The reflex mirror is no longer necessary anymore.

Interesting development and we know 2 companies that have already done just that.

Will the DSLR soon become known simply as DSL? [Some people still object to the use of the "R" ("reflex") part since there is no mirror. :D ]

Canon Why Do You Love Football Amateur Photo Contest

This amateur photo contest is opened to both teens (13-17 by 9/3/09) and adults (18 or over as of 9/3/09). Photos must have been taken during the 2009 football season and must depict youth football, which DOES NOT include collegiate or professional football.

Grand Prize Winners will receive a trip for 4 to the 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Celebration (8/5/2010) AND a trip for 4 to the 2010 Super Bowl XLIV on 2/7/2010 in South Florida.

Deadline: 12/02/09 at 5pm ET
