Parents vs Wal-Mart Over Bath-Time Photos of Kids

Mon September 21, 2009

Parents love to take pictures of their kids. One couple did just that and took pictures of their daughters after bath-time, with some of the photos showing the children partially wrapped in a towel.

When they sent the pictures to an Arizona Wal-Mart to be printed, an employee turned over the bath-time photos of the kids to authorities, deeming the partially nude photos to be inappropriate and shocking. Police was called and they in turn determined the photos to be child erotica and child pornography.

Wireless Power: Phone Recharges Using Radio Waves

Mon September 21, 2009

Nokia has shown a prototype of a cell phone that uses ambient radio waves in the air to recharge its batteries. This “wireless power” harvets electromagnetic energy from TV, radio, or even other mobile phone systems and creates a small amount of electrical current (5 milliwatts), enough to slowly recharge the cell phone battery while it’s in standby mode.

OK, this is not recent news [June 2009], but I just read it and thought it’s just brilliant! I guess there should be no reason why this technology, once perfected, could not be used to [slowly] recharge a digital camera’s battery.
