13-Year Old Wants To Sail Solo Around The World; Court Intervenes

Laura Dekker is a 13-year old girl who wants to sail solo around the world, a normally 2-year 45,000 kms trek that was recently accomplished by 17-year-old Mike Perham of Britain in just 9 months.

A panel of three judges in Utrecht, Netherlands ordered authorities to take temporary guardianship of Laura Dekker, though allowing her to stay in her father’s home, but delaying her plan to set sail next week on her eight metre yacht Guppy and become the youngest person to sail solo around the world.
